About us:

Debbie Raden moved to Whidbey Island from Seattle in 1999.  She has been a dancer most of her life with  fundamentals and technique taught to her by her stepfather, a professional ballroom instructor.  She enjoys a background in Ballet, Tap, Latin and Ballroom as well as other popular social dances.  She was happily social dancing country dances and looking toward competition when the west coast swing bug bit her.  She became an advocate for this dance, went on to become a respected competitive dancer, and began classes on Whidbey Island after friends, seeing her dance, wanted to learn.

Judy Van Wickler is a also a transplant to Whidbey Island.  As Dance Director for the Tucson Swing Dance Club, she taught both beginning and intermediate West Coast Swing to the Tucson dance community for several years.  She was a long time member of  "Sunset Country Swingers", a competition and performance dance team that  taught country dances in a variety of venues around Tucson, Arizona.   In 1996 she formed "Swing Fever", a West Coast Swing dance team, which performed at local dance conventions and other venues.  She has competed successfully in  both country and west coast swing dance competitions throughout the southwest.

Now teaching together, Debbie Raden and Judy Van Wickler hope to encourage others on Whidbey Island to learn and enjoy the dances they love.   Each is also available for private lessons in Country Two Step and West Coast Swing.
